Sadly it is Yahoo again. Yahoo just disclosed what is perhaps the biggest hacking attempt in the internet history and this is by far the biggest causing a huge concern to all the account holders.
In September, the company reported about some 500 million accounts data breached. It has disclosed today that the number is more than one billion user accounts.
Bob Lord. “We have not been able to identify the intrusion associated with this theft,” Lord revealed in a post announcing the hack.
“The stolen user account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords (using MD5) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers,” Bob Lord.
Luckily the data does not seem to include the payment details but still bad news for the account holders.
Yahoo has notified the account holders and requested them to change their passwords immediately.
Verizon agreed to buy Yahoo for $4.83 billion but there are reports of the company seeking discount after hacking reports.
